About the Firm
For over 40 years, Mark Cohen has served the needs of families and businesses on a wide range of legal matters. Prior to founding his own practice in 1985, he trained as a judicial law clerk and as an Associate and Partner in three shore area firms, and was a public defender of trial and appellate matters. His son, Jonathan Goldsmith Cohen, joined the firm in 2009 and heads its bankruptcy practice.

About Mark
I. Mark Cohen, a lifelong Monmouth County resident and a graduate of Long Branch High School, is the managing director of the I. Mark Cohen Law Group. Mark is active in civic and community activities in Monmouth County, including his positions as Chair of the Monmouth Beach Environmental Commission and as a life trustee of the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County. He is admitted to practice before the NJ Supreme Court, US District Court, and the US Supreme Court. He is an arbitrator and mediator for the Superior Court of New Jersey . Mark is a recipient of the General Practitioner of the Year award by the NJ State Bar Association.

About Jonathan
Jonathan Goldsmith Cohen has served as the director of the bankruptcy practice at the I. Mark Cohen Law Group since 2009. Jonathan built the boutique bankruptcy practice from the ground-up and has assisted thousands of individuals and small businesses. His focus areas include Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, loan modifications, mortgage servicing litigation, and debtor and creditor representation. Jonathan is involved in several aspects of the local legal and civic communities. He is actively involved in various sections of the Monmouth County Bar Association, and was a councilman for the borough of Interlaken from 2013 to 2016. He is presently the Vice President of the Interlaken School Board and is also Chairman of the Board of the Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Monmouth County.
